Thanks for your interest in our Physics Olympiad. The Olympiad is an annual event organized and conducted by the Department of Physics,  a part of the College of Literature, Science and Arts, at The University of Michigan - Ann Arbor campus.  The charming city of Ann Arbor is located about 40 miles west of Detroit, and it is regarded as a cultural center of the mid-western region of the USA.

There is NO FEE for registration and participation in the Olympiad.

Why is our department conducting a Physics Olympiad?...

  • To help high-school physics teachers with their work by providing a healthy and fun academic competition for high-school students.
  • To strengthen the ties that our faculty has with teachers throughout the region.
  • To encourage our own students to assume responsibility for the teaching of science to others.

This endeavor furthers two key goals of our department: (1) To provide an outstanding education for our students, and (2) To disseminate scientific knowledge to citizens.

We hope the following information meets your approval, but please do not hesitate to contact us should you require help.

FREE!, FREE!....Each participating team member and attending teacher will receive a commemorative T-shirt upon arrival.
